6 Most Important Pieces of Motorcycle Riding Gear

Whether you're riding on a major interstate or making your way along backroads, there’s nothing better than cruising on your Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Many people think that they can dismiss wearing motorcycle-specific gear while riding in optimal weather or warm days, but this is exactly the time to be wearing the right attire.

The best motorcycle gear on the market is designed for maximum protection in the event of an accident, in addition to coverage from a range of weather elements. Harley-Davidson takes pride in providing riders with a variety of equipment that is designed to be functional and fit your personal style.

Here at Cape Cod Harley-Davidson, we believe in the value of riding apparel and we understand that choosing the ideal gear can be overwhelming. To assist you during this search, we’ve come up with a great list of essential riding gear to purchase before going out on your next road trip. Our staff is trained and glad to assist you in finding the proper fit and function of your next purchase.

This is arguably the most crucial piece of protective motorcycle equipment to wear. The industry safety standard for helmets is DOT-certified and that’s all we carry. We encourage riders to visit our showroom to see all options ranging from Full-Face, Modular, or Half Helmets. Get fitted by one of our team members and you’ll be ready to hit the road!

Riding jackets are designed in a variety of fabrics and styles. Premium fabrics such as leather, canvas or denim are the most durable. Their purpose is to guard the body against road rash and be abrasion resistant. In our showroom we carry a variety of premium made leather jackets and textile options for both men & women. Some features on H-D jackets include mesh venting for cooling or reflective detailing for enhanced visibility!

Gloves are needed to help shield your hands from the elements and debris. The right glove will also help in maintaining a good grip on your handlebars. We carry several of the most common styles of gloves such as Gauntlet, Street and Fingerless Gloves. Most H-D gloves are compatible with smartphones and infotainment systems!

A well-made pair of boots with slip-resistant tread is a vital piece of riding gear. It is imperative you wear boots that cover the ankle as opposed to sneakers/sandals. We encourage riders to test them out to ensure they have great grip, fit, and feel broken in before going on that first ride.

 Eye Protection

Some helmets come with a shield to help safeguard your eyes, but not all helmets offer this feature. We encourage riders to invest in a pair of glasses that will protect their eyes from debris, small particles, or the sun’s bright UV rays.

 Pants / Raingear

Regular pants don’t come with the advanced features that riding pants do. Some H-D riding pants come with body-armor (padding) pockets that cushion the hips or shins in an accident, or are water and windproof. A pair of riding pants or chaps can be a great option to be worn over your street clothes! Stay dry with H-D Rain Gear easily fits over riding gear and is waterproof and breathable. Fully seam-sealed interior and double seam sealed shoulders and crotch. Heat resistant shields on lower legs.

When the ride calls for high-performance riding gear, look no further than the FXRG® collection. 115 years of riding experience meet up with road-proven designs and the latest technology to make this line of gear the one to rely on. It’s built to help you ride further and be more comfortable in the saddle as conditions change. You’re only as good as your gear. Get the good stuff.

This is iconic Harley-Davidson® riding gear and apparel. Classic, bold and strong. Riding jackets built from the most durable materials to keep you riding through it all. Tough hardware. Everything you need from helmets and rain gear to t-shirts and caps, and plenty of black and orange so you can show the world your true colours. The pride runs deep here.

The 1903 collection was built from our passion for two wheels that was born 115 years ago. Vintage-inspired Harley-Davidson graphics that come straight out of our history. Hand-stitched details. Top quality materials. The heritage runs all the way back to our roots, but the function and style are timeless. This is the true original, made to be worn by the true original.

There’s nothing complicated about the garage collection. Stripped down, rugged and raw. That’s as it should be, because it was inspired by workwear. And we’re talking about the kind of work that gets done by people who have a wrench in their hand. We’ve got everything from leather jackets and boots to shirt jackets and trucker caps.

We gave the throttle a modern twist when we set out to create the H-D® moto collection. The details are subtle. The lines are clean. They’re designed for mobility and riding comfort but made to look good when you’re off the road. They’re cut to fit your body with sleek lines, and not a lot of extra fabric to flap in the wind. These are the next classics, for those who like what’s next.
